DIY Patio lights –

Evening All,

A quick little post I wanted to share.  I was sitting outside this evening  thinking how the design my back patio will go – not much space and the grading is horrible so will have to be cleaver with space planning.  For now it is still in my mind with some very basic sketches. Anyway, it got me thinking about decor and how I will entertain and I don’t know about you but I just adore those Italian style string Patio Lights!  Oh so romantic –

You most likely already have white twinkle lights on hand (and who among us doesn’t have a giant ball of tangled twinkle lights in the garage/basement / attic – holiday decor box right now?)  this project will cost you very little……

I do have some of the rattan ball string lights from Target that I have never used and are still in the box for over 3 years – why? I don’t know… anyway they are coming out this summer BUB.  However, they are a little on the pricey side for outdoor lights that I don’t know how often I will use.  Also I need about 4 more strands out there for example, this was $27.95 from Target.  My solution “dahlings” …….. keep reading.

$27.95  SAY WHAT?…………..

Your local discount store  should have them.  The Dollar Tree by me sells these grapevine balls by the bag. They come in two sizes. I used the larger size, which is about 3″ in diameter, just because that would vary with the one’s I already have.

They’re cool inside or outside and the little spheres can be spray-painted any color you like before they’re popped onto the twinkle lights. For the most part, the balls hold on just fine without any help, but you can apply a little hot glue to keep them more secure.

Happy DIYing everyone!!!
