A Date In Baker Park

I am so fortunate to have so many great parks near me – one of my favorites is just a few driving minutes from my home – Baker Park in Historic Frederick, MD.  It great for strolling – exercising – tennis – movies in the park (in the summer) there is color lake on the far end – a gazebo – a lovely Bell Tower that actually works – many activities I could go on and on.  I love when Mike and I go downtown and have a picnic in the park or just stroll around and admire our lovely little hometown!   Maybe go by one of our restaurants or grab a treat at the candy store maybe even some ice cream…..
f you ever in the area – be sure to make it part of you stop!

This Simple Trick Will Make Your Dishes Cleaner Than Ever

Here’s proof that a lemon wedge can do more than garnish cocktails…….

When life gives you lemons…clean your house! This citrusy fruit has all kinds of helpful uses around the house, from removing stains to freshening your microwave. And this dishwasher trick I spotted on The Kitchn may be the most genius one yet.
Next time you’re ready to do a load of dishes, slip a lemon wedge in with your wash (it doesn’t even have to be freshly sliced — it can be an already-juiced wedge). It should sit on the top rack of your dishwasher, skewered on a plate wire, or in the cutlery container, so it doesn’t move around. Then, run your dishwasher as you normally would.
When the cycle is finished, you’ll open up your dishwasher to find that your dishes are more sparkly clean than ever. Plus, the lemon leaves behind a very faint smell, adding some extra freshness.
After making a recipe that calls for lemons, I like to first use the leftover wedges to wipe down my cutting board, and then put them in her dishwasher. “[It] feels so much better than just throwing those lemons out,” (lemons are also great to put down the garbage disposal to freshen it up).
Cheers All – Enjoy Your Memorial Day Weekend Whatever You Do!

Eyeliner – Non Toxic – Just Had To Share

To All My Sensitive Ladies & Fella’s,

I pretty much have tried every eyeliner known to man & right now I am really liking the +Benefit Cosmetics “They’re Real” eyeliner & mascara.  The brush for the mascara “ROCKS”!

However this is not the reason for today’s post.  While I’m aneyeliner/makeup lovah,  I was on the search for an alternative.  Wanting to keep my clients & my own peepers protected, I was on the hunt for a clean, non-toxic eyeliner. (who really wants toxins so close to the windows of their soul?)  So here is something that isn’t even eyeliner!  Are you ready for this…. I am gonna use some little magic pills that relieve your tummy of gas.  Charcoal! Seriously……I am gonna use charcoal.

If you stroll your pharmacy aisles you’ll find bottles of activated charcoal sitting right next to good ol’ milk of magnesia.  Activated charcoal comes in tablets and in capsules.  I talked with my pharmacist – (I made friends with mine – they are so much more than just “pill dispensers”  I get a wealth of knowledge from her.)  I told her of my plans to try as eyeliner and she said people even use it to brush their teeth…..Really?  Who knew….you know me I’m game but lets do the eyeliner first.
To get a sultry soft smudge, moisten a flat edged eye brush in water and dab on a charcoal tablet and line eye.  To get a more defined and concentrated dark line, get your favorite eyeliner brush really wet and swirl on the tablet or charcoal powder from an opened capsule (think of how you used watercolors when you were a kid) and line eyes.
Who knew that indigestion could be oh, so sexy and healthy?  Leave it to Cleopatra.  Try it out and let me know.

BTW – used it today and works like a dream – will let you know the staying power at the end of today.  I did not use my urban decay eye primer so that could effect the outcome – but we will see.
TIP FOR TODAY – CLEAN YOUR PHONE, EARBUDS, YOUR KEYBOARD AND MOUSE.  YOU WILL BE SURPRISED OF THE GOOK ON THEM – I DO THIS AT LEAST 1X A WEEK.  JUST SAYIN…….
