1. a late morning meal eaten instead of breakfast and lunch.

Happy Sunday – Happy Brunch! AKA acceptable “A.M. DAY DRINKING” for some with out really alarming folks.

My oldest son Joe is almost 26 living in Richmond, VA doing the “millennial thing”  good job (his own corner office now to – just saying) live in girlfriend, 2 dogs, on a pool league and  Brunch is it baby!  They go out almost every Sunday downtown.  There are tons of great joints in Richmond – food trucks, ethnic restaurants and always Divine BRUNCH spots.  Sometimes he and his woman even host at home.  He still calls for some last minute recipe ideas or to get the secret ingredient’s for the BEST pancakes ever…. maybe I’ll share with you later if ya want?

Anyway, this leads me to my post – all of my kids are outta the house 3 boys and my baby girl (just 21….whaaaatttt) I still love to buy them things for the house and get them some cool clothes.  They fit so well in the chic minimalist euro looks that you’ll see below.  Don’t get me wrong – Mike & I love a good brunch and we do a killer one +The Tasting Room but it’s not my life anymore – like it is for them.   Joe told me about Manmosa’s – basically a Mimosa with shot of vodka!  (see below) Now that’s a hair of the dog.  A top shelf quality hangover cure (really just prolonging the inevitable who is he kidding).  So while your out “brunching” why not look fab – like your not even trying and not breaking the bank.  Check out these cool stuff for that spring brunch date either out or hosted at home.  DON’T FORGET THE SUNGLASSES THOUGH!

Here are the details for that manly version of a Mimosa

Manmosa Recipe

  • 1-2 ounces Stoli Orange (because these guys are not lightweights)
  • 3 ounces Blue Moon hefeweizen
  • 3 ounces champagne/sparkling wine
  • 4 ounces freshly squeezed orange juice
  • orange twist, to garnish
Combine ingredients over ice in 16 oz. glass.  Maybe throw in a sprig of mint or rosemary for some fancy floral aromas, give it a good stir & it’s off to the drinking races for you go brunch folks.
NOTE : Pace yourself or you’re going to wake up in a different time zone- these things can be dangerous.
My favorite brunch classic that never goes out of style……Eggs Benedict:
  • Melt butter in large skillet over med. heat until foaming – add Canadian Bacon slices and fry – turn occasionally until just brown.
  • Divide English muffin toasted well – I HATE UN-TOASTED MUFFIN ON MY BENNIE’S with butter in the broiler until light golden brown.
  • Place drained eggs on top of cooked Canadian Bacon add S&P than liberally spoon hollandaise all over each egg – don’t be shy with this part.  Fresh pepper on top sprinkle a bit of parsley on top and dash’s of Tabasco of course!  Now this is perfection – first breakfast I made Mike when I had the chance – been together over 18 years…. a link?  I think so.
