We fianlly went to check out the recently opened H MART FREDERICK here near me to do a litte shopping and maybe some healthy eating as well. We ended up going Sunday and Monday! The food court looked fantastic – the produce is abundant and fresh. I am used to HMART in VA near my dearly loved SPA WORLD the authentic Korean Bath House where I escape to cleanse, detox, and reboot myself. So I am familar and was really excited since the Gmart was such a bad flop. Not as big as it’s VA chains but it is busy with cross section of ethntensities which is now making our Frederick, MD a great melting pot! The food court was clean but confusiong, many stalls to choose from – Ramen House, Koren (my fav) with Bibimbap veggie is the way I go but you can choose chicken, pork beef . Definition: Bibimbap . You can choose fried chicken, sushi, bakery items, even some Koren cosmetics – leaves a little to be desired if your already familar to them – + side note they did have snail serum and that stuff rocks! Check out this book – The Little Book of Skin Care Korean Beauty I was already acustomed to the benefits from the ladies at SPA WORLD but his book is a great read and perfect for the novie Asain Beauty Culture guru. Day one food great – is was bustling and we decided on Ramen and Bibimbap was delish – day two we got sushi salmon, tuna and tempura roll. The roll was good and fresh I couldnt eat the tuna (maguro) I dont even try and swallow funky sushi – Right? So this left me a bit hungry going towards the door so we grabbed fresh produce, cabbage, fruit – see those cheeries and Chinese vinegar to take home and add to my slaw. We will be back but not as often as I had though. I am picky about where I may eat I think I’ll sitck to Korean stall and need to head to SPA WORLD/VA soon! HMART is trying and has a nice selection and good prices but I wont forget my 7th St. Asain Market for the best teas, frozen veggie dumplings, scallions, tofu and perfect nappa cabbage!
Make sure to try it out nice to see our area widing its horizons. I think the more the merrier! Below is a cross section of pictures I took of the large market.
SEAFOOD DEPT. IS CLEAN AND HAS THE FRESHEST FISH I’VE SEEN IN AGES – LOOK A THE COLOR OF THAT MACKERAL! OCEAN BLUE!
It went on for miles and miles.
Some cute Chinese soda – the one above is fun you push in lid to make bubbles and there is a glass marble in the top – its like drinking from a baby bottle
This is the biggest Jack Fruit we have ever seen – what in the world do you use it for the Chef asks???????
My goto Veggie Bibimbap – sides of kimchi and miso soup – now thats healthy in a bowl right.
I hope you give it a whril and let me know your thoguhts what you eat, get and make with all the new exotic goodies.
