FIRST IN MY INTERVIEW SERIES “SPOTLIGHT” JKW BEAUTY’S FOUNDER JORDAN LEWIS

Happy Monday & Happy Spring! Finally!

This post is my first in a new series of “Interviews” I will be doing. Talking with brands, people I love admire and want to share who they are and what they do with you all. This first Interview is with the lovely Jordan Lewis of JKW Beauty. I met Jordan several years ago at a few local events here in historic Frederick, MD. Some non-profit, some fashion shows and Girls Night Out parties. She is a wonderful makeup artist so we hit it off right out of the gate. She and her team did my hair for the Goodwill fashion show a few years back and make up for the sadly now closed Silk and burlap in-house trunk shows. I recently went and got my first spray tan in years at her intimate makeup studio on Market St. We chit chatted and caught up for a little bit. She is under the wire now as Jordan and her husband are expecting their first child in just a few short weeks. (end of May – I think)

Below is her bio & the cute fun little Q & A we did. I hope you like this and please check out her site. Her skills are REAL ladies & gents! I can’t wait to get another spray tan and talk eyelashes – I think a YouTube vlog will be in order after the baby arrives.

JORDAN LEWIS

“I’m a dreamer- like big, change the world kind of dreams. And, I love to help people. I am a #GIRLBOSS. Wifey to Q, the sweetest husband that ever existed. Daughter. Oldest Sister to two kid brothers. BFF to a crew of amazing girlfriends. Dog mama to Zeus, a boxer. Obsessed with traveling, learning, and understanding more about the way people think. Super faithful. Can’t live without candles, long lashes, spray tans, and comfy white t-shirts. Fitness and music are my main squeeze to stay balanced.

I received my artistry license from Von Lee International School of Aesthetics. Began my career with ULTA, moving onto training with MAC Cosmetics, and continued my education in the beauty industry receiving training from TemptuPro, MAC, KISS, NARS, Calvin Klein, YSL, and SouthSeasSkincare cosmetics. Recruited and mentored by accomplished makeup artist, Danessa Myricks, I had the opportunity to work in the International Cosmoprof expo in Italy at age 20. Three years after my make-up artistry journey began in the retail cosmetics world, Jordan K Winn & Co was born. Approaching their 6th year in beauty business, JKWBeauty has emerged and has evolved into one of the most sought after bridal make-up and hair teams in the area. My passion for perfecting my craft has kept myself & the artist team striving to further our education, ensuring we stay in trend with the current styles and beauty technology of today’s ever-changing, fast paced beauty industry”.

Lori Tauraso/Blank Slate: How long have you had your own business JKW Beauty?

Jordan: JKWbeauty is 8 Years Old in June!

LT: Have you always been interested in beauty? Were you a girly girl?

JL: I’ve been interested in beauty since the day I went to training at Avon Lee for makeup artistry, prior to that – I wanted to own a business. My mom has owned franchises of sylvan alongside my family for years, and I always walked into velvet lounge when I was younger saying I wanna do this (now I get to collaborate with April! Goals!!!!). I wasn’t a girly girl. I flat ironed my hair for the first time in 9th grade, prior to that I was a sneaker wearing, tree climbing, Barbie hating little tomboy. When I meant one of my very best friends Melissa Perez, who works with JKWbeauty as a senior stylist, she helped me out in the girly girl department – aka I just copied her style.

LT: What are your 3 MUST HAVE products?
  • Texture HairSpray (current fav is Paul Mitchell – Undone)
  • Beautycounter Nude lipgloss in Buff
  • Bronzer – all time fav is Kevyn Aucoin

LT: What is your “Signature Look”

JL: Hair – Undone waves with lots of texture
Makeup – glowy skin (all the creamy highlight) aka Armani luminous silk foundation, lots of dark gorgeous lashes (hypnosis drama all time fav mascara), a pop of peachy cheek, and bronze glow

LT: How do you feel about Social Media – selfies? Food pics? Duck Lips? (LOL)

JL: I love the connection social media has for creatives. It has been a major way to stay and get inspired. I also think it has created unrealistic standards for beauty – I want people to use it to get inspired and then get off and live – there is only one you – you don’t need to look like the latest Instagram fad unless it’s your swag or style.

LT: favorite Food / Meal

JL: Good sushi – lazy fish hayyyy! http://www.lazyfishsushi.com/

LT: You look fantastic – What has been your health routine while pregnant?

JL: Take time for me first. Everything else second. Barre has been everything to me during pregnancy. Staying active is been my sanity. acupuncture monthly – swear by it. But most of all, taking time to be grateful for my health and this journey by meditating and doing yoga. The mind is powerful tool to look and feel the energy you have inside. A good moisturizer doesn’t hurt – current fav (since my skin has been the dryers of all time – thanks baby!) is Weleda Skin Food.

LT: How do you feel about aging, plastic surgery? (Fillers, botox etc.)

JLP R E V E N T A T I V E! take time to research what’s out there, find a trusted doctor and go for a consultation. Listen to the experts, tell them what bothers you and take their advice. And good doctors take time to get into and aren’t cheap – don’t get $2 Botox at your girlfriends basement unless she’s a doctor herself.
My feelings are this – if you don’t like something and it literally blows your life away in a way that hurts your self confidence – change it! But learn to love your one of a kind self in the process – no filler or plastic surgery cures the inside uglies. With that being said, I’m down for all the fun new stuff in moderation. And flaunt it – don’t you wish all the celebs would be real about all the treatments, fillers and work they get done so we could all know what it really takes to achieve this “beauty”. I do!
I’m particularly excited about fillers, new laser treatments, etc because they are temporary and non invasive – most can be removed and dissolved if you don’t like and need to be maintained so you can change up your look. The new lasers coming out that are in Europe (where all great skin things are born) are unbelievable and are going to make us ladies look ageless.
At the end of the day, my final words are everything is beautiful in moderation. Don’t get crazy!
LT: What is your dream makeup job?

JL: My job – I love dealing with regular girls on the best day of their life. I’ve never been one for the celebrity circuit or fashion runaways. I like collaborating with my fav GIRLBOSSES in the city I grew up in. If I could have a job in the industry – it would be creating names for makeup or nail collection – like for real how fun would that be!

LT: Mine too or Paint colors…… I keep telling Benjamin Moore that “Brussels sprout Green” is the perfect Spring Green – “Call Me Ben”.

LT: Your biggest life lesson so far?
JL: When I lost my baby brother 9/9/2016, I realized I was living too far into the future. His passing made me come to terms with the fact we live in a world past the present moment chasing the next big trends or thing, which makes us feel like we’ve never arrived at success. His physical absence reminds me that life is short, and the key to believing you have everything is believing that you do. Sometimes the brightest stars align and guide you in the darkest moment of life, for that I am grateful………

LT: Awe Im so sorry for your loss – I had no idea. What a great way to remember him daily by living in the now……I’m sure he watches over you and is very proud.

This was just a small interview I hope you liked it and again please pop over to Jordans site JKW Beauty make an appointment for makeup lesson, spray tan, or get the perfect updo. Below some pictures from her bespoke salon and my tanning experience. I am going again this week – the tan has still lasted – even with exercise, nightly detox baths and the sauna. I really did heed her directions by staying VERY moisturized.

My face was glowing and the tan really coming through again no makeup and loving it. There was no weird chemical scent either. Downside no hot bath tonight, hair up to prevent any staining, wrap myself in old sheets not to stain bed just in case. Keep it on for 8 hours – you will be very dark than shower off for your true color results. Here is my Instagram video I did the morning after loriannmd Instagram Tanning update

SPRING FRONT PORCH

Good Morning,
Looks like Spring is finally here in Maryland (snow flurries this past Monday) but now it seems safe to begin the “front porch” project I mentioned on Insta a few weeks back. I took everything off my porch – cleaning it – and got a new mat at the door that is it! Pretty bare looking. I need to do some touch-up paint and I may paint the front door. We have been in the house for a little over 4 years and feeling the nesting instinct again. I am partnering with Creme de la Creme – Frederick to create a front porch vignette. I may try and do two different versions – my stoop is not very big – I do have a balcony so we may do a combo. Here is what I am starting with. I wanna lean towards French / Italian rustic and Creme de la Creme is Perfect for this. loriannmd, urablankslate, blank slate, decor, spring, frederick md, dmv, shopping, shop local, fresh decor, rustic, spring, downtown frederick, visit frederick md, blankslate, decorating, fashion, tysons corner, middleburg va, richmond va, home improvement

SUNDAY FUNDAY #OOTD & MY FIRST CHANEL

Happy Sunday Gang,

Today was a day that I had waited for but did not think it was going to happen for a while yet.
Still, a chilly Sunday here in the DMV so Mike and I decided to head to Tysons Galleria to check out the new Isabella’s Eatery – Chef Mike Isabella’s grand project. Very upscale food court. We are were looking at some new spring cosmetics skincare lines, new workout gear maybe and popping into CHANEL! Whaaaaat! A very sweet sales associate and I had been talking for months and I had given her an idea of a bag (I don’t have one in my collection – well didn’t) I wanted something classic but with an edge – not the same black bag everyone else has you know what I mean….. I’m not one who wants exactly what everyone else has. I sent her this picture 6 mths ago as an idea (RUNWAY PEOPLE) So she knew I wanted something classic but edgy. Like a said I was not to be rushed in this purchase nor was I gonna rush, Mike……… Wink Wink!
Chanel, chanel boy bag, blankslate, urablankslate, dmv, blogger babes, loriannmd, lori tauraso, frederick md, designer, classic, runway, karl laugerfeld, BlankSlateBlog, Instagram, Youtube, Unboxing She texted and had gotten in some new pieces that are limited edition so I said “Oh Mike lets just go look” I mean one day I will get one and I like to window shop anyway. Well, let me tell you he really surprised me because today was the day! I could not believe it. I squealed like a little girl and gave him the biggest hug. I even did a little jump! A few people laughed and one lady said – now that bag that is an iconic runway piece. I’m still in awe. I did not get the above-pictured bag even though Michelle had it there for me. In person, it was too small a mini and I just donated a mini Gucci to Clutch for a Cause part of W2Women mentoring. Which I was honored to do so I knew a mini bag was not for me anymore.Chanel, chanel boy bag, blankslate, gucci, non profits, urablankslate, dmv, blogger babes, loriannmd, lori tauraso, frederick md, designer, classic, runway, karl laugerfeld, BlankSlateBlog, Instagram, Youtube, UnboxingThis is just something I’ve wanted. I consider it to be a little piece of wearable art. I adore all my beautiful bags, shoes, clothing I have collected over the years. I know I am VERY fortunate and those who know me know I am not braggy I just was like YES BABY! (Stay tuned for Instagram/ instastores etc.) Without knowing what was going to be happening I decided to wear my usual high-end casual type of outfit and I was asked several times about it today (#OOTD) by a few of you so I created this board. I hope you like it and it should make getting the info easier. I am still in the process of learning the layouts on the site but it is exact to what I wore today. The perfume is my long time signature. Also, I have to say the Paige denim jeans on the second grouping (I have 3 pairs) fit like a glove – my newest favorite by far – if you haven’t tried them on yet – trust me you will be in love. That perfect amount of stretch while retaining the form. Also, always love my American eagle jeans forever a standard. Hudson flap back pockets rule they give you an instant butt lift! Honest! These SJP shoes are so great – many thought they were Manolo’s but that is to be expected right? She did collaborate with him. Who doesn’t miss Sex and The City? Anyway was so excited I was able to buy them at MGM National Harbor Flagship SJP Store!

I have some of these jeans below and whats great high-end or low they last and look and feel so good. I adore pairing my jeans, t-shirts or casual top with high-end accessories. That is really my everyday style ( well except for my yoga pant days…… which I’m trying to do only on days I workout – Ha Ha who’s with me?

I mean I have some “fancy dresses” but let’s be honest that is not my life and I’m glad. I need to be comfy and try and look good doing it. I may even get my nails done this week. If you’ve been following along you know I have taken this year to really “edit” my closet and “things” I have quality over quantity. I’m getting there still a work in progress and this week I’ll be tackling my office – AGAIN. As far as CHANEL………………… darlings you will have to check back for the Unboxing- I’ve been doing little videos for myself and the restaurants so I think I’ll make one. So it will be up this week. If you go to Chanel in Tysons Corner, VA ask for Michelle Kennedy she is the best! Her manager Brianna was lovely as well. Not an everyday thing for me a very special piece. I’m happy, grateful and will cherish it forever!Chanel, chanel boy bag, blankslate, urablankslate, dmv, blogger babes, YOUTUBE, loriannmd, lori tauraso, frederick md, designer, classic, runway, karl laugerfeld, BlankSlateBlog, Instagram, Youtube, Unboxing

Again, happy Sunday everyone! I know it was a surprisingly happy one for me and I wish the same for all of you as always.

Still working on the DIY home cleaners and the video will be up soon.

SIDE NOTE WEIRD THINGS WITH INSTAGRAM & WORDPRESS FIXING SOON – MY SLIDESHOW AND LINK WILL BE UP ASAP! THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO ASKED AND LET ME KNOW IT WAS NOT THERE.

SPRING SPRING WHERE ARE YOU

HAPPY MONDAY,

I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday – ours was nice and quiet here in the DMV – still gloomy outside so I thought I’d create a spring fashion board on my Polyvore site. Lately, technology has been betraying me and tons of time resetting things etc. so frustrating! Bear with me. Here is LINK FOR POLYVORE! and all my goodies I’m looking into.

Enjoy your week and do something nice for yourself. Happy surfing………

BTW – I am excited over 2 new posts that are in the works – one is a front porch decor/collaboration with Creme de la Creme 207 N. Market St. Frederick, MD

The other is “The Organically Clean Home” I’ve been making all my cleaning products – so much healthier (recently found I have asthma) and saves loads of money! I am excited for you to come along. I have to find all the jars etc…. so it will be coming up just in time for Spring cleaning!

PHILLY PART 2 I’M IN LOVE WITH MORIMOTO & PICS FROM THE FLOWER SHOW

Philly in 24 Part Two,

This 24 hour trip to Philadelphia was like a food lovers dream. After the drive up, bellying up to the Tommy DiNic’s bar for a roast pork – brisk walk around the city (freezing thank you very much March winds were blowing) a little r&r in our suite at the Ritz we rallied up and got ready for dinner. Now to start you should know that this restaurant has been on my bucket list for years! I have admired and wanted to dine at Iron Chef Morimoto’s Japanse restaurant since the day I saw him on TV and knew he was only a few hours away. I can’t believe it took me so long to get here ……….

Surprisingly, Mike called Thursday afternoon and was able to snag a 7 pm reso…….! Huh? How is this possible I asked? “We have to eat at the small sushi bar in the back,” he said. Apparently not the “hot spot”. “I am fine with that,” I said. Note to you all it turned out to be the best seat in the house. A little crowded & busy by the kitchen door also a little chilly since the restaurant is long like an alley and the vent fans pull hard from the kitchen. Below is my view and I would not change a thing.

Here is the Tofu that is made table side – how cool right – I only had a bit or two – way too many other things to eat. Not bad though – 10 points for cleverness and presentation.

The Whitefish Carpaccio was off the charts delicious. It was lush, delicate, flavorful a piece of heaven on a plate for sure. I would get this every time. I will get this every time!

BELOW Tuna = Maguro Perfection! Nothing else needed the fresh ginger just a thin piece a dash of wasabi and a small dip in the soy – BTW the soy sauce at the bar best ever, not the same old same of Kikkoman here!

I also ate (sadly not pictured here) the Toro or the fatty tuna. I had never had that before and I am so glad I waited to have it here! Seriously, people, it was like nothing I’ve ever eaten. Not fishy in the least – melted on my tongue like butter. The tuna over warm sushi rice nothing else just a drop of soy sauce. PERFECT! I am spoiled I will never have sushi again without having this as the bar! In fact, won’t be going anywhere local I mean so what is 2 hours or so for the best of something you’ve ever had! Then the sushi chef asked if he could make me something (a major *perk to sitting at the sushi bar) and I was like YEAH!!!!!!!! YES – HAI! He then torched the Toro so the fat melted and created a thin crust on top. I mean baby you have me now! I proceeded to order 6 more pieces (Yes 6 don’t judge me) of Toro the regular un torched and was in heaven. See below snippet of the menu. The full menu and website is HERE

I did not realize the cost per piece $16.00 each but it was worth and I WILL DO IT AGAIN!

I did not get pictures because I was enjoying all of it so much! HAHA I mean it was that good and even I did not want to grab my camera. That is saying something my friends. Next Mike went for it and got the Wagyu beef. Tender, moist, rare all that we had ever heard of Wagyu – it did not disappoint. I was still in heaven over the Toro and only ate a bite of the beef. Morimoto offers a great drink selection as well. Mike had a Martini and I had a ginger mocktail you see for me and Mike agreed later some food is so good you don’t want to fill up on alcohol or a cocktail just doesn’t go. Like when we have Peking Duck no drinks there only water and tea. I don’t know maybe for some folks its different I’m sure. I mean they did have a cool sake flight our neighbors at the bar enjoyed. However, for me I needed to save all the room in my belly for food and I got quite a buzz from the tuna!

Now dessert the sushi chef suggested the “firey chocolate tart” and told me to get my camera out which I did right away. The tart was a decadent chocolate salted caramel ganache, with chocolate sorbet, marshmallow, and almond. CLICK HERE FOR LITTLE DESSERT VIDEO

This is what is left – maybe I did have more than one little bite. I have to say this was the best Japanese Sushi meal I/we have ever had. I can’t wait to go back and take the kids. They have all grown up to be quite the “foodie” themselves.

After that, I poured myself into a lovely hot bath at the Ritz and slept like a baby. Waking Sunday morning to full sunshine and coffee in the room we got ready for the day and headed to the convention center and the Philadelphia Flower Show. I had been to this event years ago so I was really looking forward to it. The entrance was a typical hotel large convention space with lots of people selling all sorts of things but when we entered the doors it was as if we were transported.

I mean the epitome of a garden party here right? I love the hanging vines and globes

Or what if you had an outdoor forest theme wedding to the right is the little chapel ….

I really liked all the details in the train city below.

This sparked ideas for the front of The Tasting Room or my patio

A cute beach houses front entrance using the oyster shells as a walkway – really clever!

I just couldn’t stop looking at the cactus display almost seemed as if it was in outer space.

This is just perfect for me. I am a big fan of formal architectural gardens. Lots of symmetry, pathways, statues etc…. if you have space.

We did hit DiNics again for brunch and as we walked back to the hotel gearing up to leave Philly was having its Saint Patricks Day Parade a week early here and I ran into this fella.Pretty funny and a great ending to our little weekend getaway. The diet starts Monday!

Cheers & Happy Travels

COME ALONG WITH ME FOR 24 HOURS – HEADING TO PHILADELPHIA

Happy Monday,

Spur of the moment is sometimes a great thing. On Friday we decided to take a trip to Philadelphia for 24hrs or so. I wanted to see the Philadelphia Flower and Garden Show – was

on

the last days – it ended yesterday March 11th. I was looking for some touchstones of Spring people – been a long cold winter around here. I could use some good food so Tommy Dinics @ Reading Terminal was on the list and the famous MORIMOTO restaurant for sushi. #bucketlist I have wanted to go here for years! I adore Chef Morimoto and heard only great things.

So Mike was like yes, and I was like ok! “ON IT” Get Abe a babysitter, done. Now off to www.marriott.com/rewards to see if we had enough points to use and by golly we did. Ritz Carlton Philadelphia people Located right in the heart of Philly near City Hall, Reading Terminal – aka DiNic’s home, the convention center and just 9 blocks from Morimoto! Yeah! #arigatogozaimashita = thank you in Japanese

Mike got us a reservation at 7 pm on Saturday night! What? How you may ask – well we accepted to be at the sushi bar. Not a comfy they said etc… not in the heart of the restaurant and by the kitchen. Well, baby put me here. (more on Morimoto later).

So Saturday morning we dropped the “Abester” off tidy’ed up the house, did a few errands and off to Philly we went. It only took 2hours and 10 minutes. Why has it been so long Philly? Why? More importantly, where have you been Tommy Dinic’s? We arrive at the Ritz, valet the car cause no one wants to drive in Philly major construction fixing potholes, road work and new building everywhere – plus if not frigid we’ll walk a bit. A small bit. We checked in to the old historic bank building which became a coin exchange to become Mellon bank than in 2001 the Ritz acquired the spot. The lobby is lovely huge while marble columns, floors and the center round bar towards the back of the lobby with an adjacent full-service restaurant. I was told this is the place to have your wedding in Philly and by the look of it, there must have been 2 going on when we arrived. They have a full-service spa, steam room, and great fitness room. They upgraded us for using our Marriott points and number (thank you sir!) however our first room had an odor that with my new asthma diagnosis was not gonna fly so in a cool minute we were taken to an even larger suite on the club level ( no club privilege but NP for us) The room was huge. Living room, dining table foyer bathroom, washer dryer, mini bar, coffee, separate closed off bedroom with its own TV large bathroom soaking tub (a must for me) and oversized windows. They were everywhere and we got to watch the stunning Philly skyline. We could see the planes land in the distance pretty cool. Here is the main lobby. The picture below is not mine – unless noted all photos are mine. I found this one on google to really show the beauty and grandeur – I believe this is taken from the balcony above the front street entrance.

Here is a link provided by Ritz Carlton on a more in-depth history of the grand building. http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/hotels/philadelphia/hotel-overview/hotel-history

Needless to say, I love our room look at these floors and how the room just goes on and on.ritz carlton, ritz philadelphia, loriannmd, urablankslate, google, traveler, reviews, blogger, dmv, philly, day trip,

TAURASO CHICKEN CURRY #TaurasoFoodGroup

Hello, My Friends,

Finally as promised our Tauraso Family Chicken Curry. Do you like Indian Food & Curries? I know I sure do! More and more these days and not just for the amazing flavors but for the health benefits. Many of the spices used to make curries are known anti-inflammatories. So in this house that is a win-win. Below is our family curry recipe. Mike and I worked on several different variations until finally, I think we hit the mark. #marriedtoachef. I hope you go out of your comfort zone and try this out or share how you prepare your curry dishes. #alwayswillingtotrysomethingnew ( almost always – lol)

Chicken Curry

Finally, we were able to recreate a fantastic curry at home.

Course Main Course
Cuisine Indian

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken breasts boneless, skinless, all natural 3/4 inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup canola oil, clarified butter ( aka Ghee) enough to coat bottom of dutch oven
  • S&P to taste

Mixture for food processor keep seperate

  • 2-4 thai chilies (reserve 1- 2 chiles split for dry herb mix) chopped and this is all up to your liking and heat # ( save 2 for dry herb mix)
  • 1 thumb ginger peeled chopped into Cuisinart
  • 1/4 - 1/2 yellow onion rough chopped will go into Cuisinart
  • 5 cloves of garlic peeled rough chopped into Cuisinart

Herb Mix - keep seperate

  • 3 dried bay leaf
  • 8 cardamon seeds cracked open by placing flat edge of knife over it and press
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1-2 Thai chiles split

Spice Mix - keep seperate

  • 1 tbsp tumeric powder
  • 1 tbsp Garam Masala
  • 2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoon madras curry Powder

Tomato Mix

  • 1/2 can curshed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 3/4 - 1 cup regular yogurt
  • 1 cup water ( use filtered if you have for all you cooking)
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro rough chopped

Instructions

  1. Put oil or ghee in heavy bottomed Dutch Oven or braising pan. Bring to med-high heat and brown chicken breast pieces. Remove from pan when they have a nice color - see photo - set aside.

  2. Add the Herb Mix to the pan and cook for about 30 seconds. scraping the bottom of the pot vigorously. Add the Spice Mix and cook for another 30 seconds. Add the pureed onion /ginger/ chiles and cook for about 5 minutes scraping the bottom of the pan every so often. Add the Tomato mix and water. Incorporate well and cook for about 8-1 minutes. Add your chicken breast back to pan ( plate juices as well) then cook until tender. About 10 more minutes. When it is finished add your fresh cilantro and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

We like to serve this over a bed of Basmati Rice and warm Nann topped with yummy Raita, an Indian yogurt sauce. Raita simple to make use 1/2 cup yogurt, thinly sliced carrot, and grated cucumber. S&P to taste mix and chill add to your dinner and dip your Nann in it! Try and tell me that's not a little piece of heaven on a plate.

I hope you try it out and let me know how it goes by commenting below also tell me what else you want to see food/cooking-wise!

Cheers,

COME ALONG WITH ME TO TRY ANTI AGING INFINI TREATMENT – FULL DISCLOSURE NO TOUCHUPS!

I am at it again,

I’m bringing you along with me as I try the new kid on the block for anti-aging “ INFINI RF ANTI AGING TREATMENT at my local doctor’s office Frederick Dermatology Associates DR. KATHLEEN MOE I want to preface this by saying this is not sponsored at all. The whole idea and practice of cosmetic dermatology just fascinating to me. Not just for myself and outward appearance but the geeky science side of me that only a few know. I, of course, worry about aging and want to look my best. I do a little here and there and care about my appearance for myself first and foremost and then to be attractive to my husband and getting a few winks and smiles now and then doesn’t hurt a girls mojo. I don’t, however, think every woman needs to focus on anti-aging or go to extremes. It’s all personal and at the end of the day, the fact is we all age, God willing and you need to be beautiful on the inside first. Otherwise, no amount of makeup, procedures, designer clothes, bags will help. So this stuff is just “my jam“. My love, my calling and I like to share with my friends my journey of aging and what is working for me. What I am going through, my health issues and focuses. How I move through this world with grace, dignity, and joy. That being said let’s get to what this self-inflicted torture is supposed to do – LOL

  • stimulate your collagen production and help with wrinkle reduction
  • short recovery time you can wear makeup after a day or so and go back to normal activities ( I was very red for a day so then became very itchy on day 3 – normal)
  • see the result in less than one week and continue to get better for up to 6 months
  • tighten areas treated ( I want to focus on the jawline and under eyes ) below is the website before and after images very compelling…..

I have a friend who has done the micro needling with fantastic results and this combo of micro needling with RF – radio frequency for lifting and tightening under the skin should be even better. So I am all in! It’s like wearing a fantastic bra all the time or having the foundation of your house lifted – it all just sits perkier, smoother and looks more like you rested and like the good ol’ days.

So here you see I am numbed up first ( the vaseline like sheen dead giveaway) and given a low dose pain med – so I’m ok feeling mellow people. Nikki begins on my neck and moves up – mostly I feel the pressure like a small staple gun all across my neck and face but not painful at all. Tender under my eyes and near my mouth that’s it. I swear I am a big baby so I have a very low pain threshold. loriannmd, lori tauraso, frederick dermatology associates, sura skincare, infini, dmv, blogger, wordpress, antiaging, skin treatment, full disclosure, kathleen moe, dr moe, facebook, instagram, tauraso food group, PR, stivectin, maven beauty bar, downtown frederick md, the tasting room, black hog bbq,

You can see the redness appear to grow and grow. Little bits of blood but nothing crazy – it injures the skin and forces it to go on high repair mode to heel itself. I think that is the basic theory behind it. loriannmd, lori tauraso, frederick dermatology associates, sura skincare, infini, dmv, blogger, wordpress, antiaging, skin treatment, full disclosure, kathleen moe, dr moe, facebook, instagram, tauraso food group, PR, stivectin, maven beauty bar, downtown frederick md, the tasting room, black hog bbq, Good “Selfie” action on my part right? loriannmd, lori tauraso, frederick dermatology associates, sura skincare, infini, dmv, blogger, wordpress, antiaging, skin treatment, full disclosure, kathleen moe, dr moe, facebook, instagram, tauraso food group, PR, stivectin, maven beauty bar, downtown frederick md, the tasting room, black hog bbq, Scary – promised full disclosure no touch up here! Puffy and bruised looking esp under my eyes but that was a big focus for me. loriannmd, lori tauraso, frederick dermatology associates, sura skincare, infini, dmv, blogger, wordpress, antiaging, skin treatment, full disclosure, kathleen moe, dr moe, facebook, instagram, tauraso food group, PR, stivectin, maven beauty bar, downtown frederick md, the tasting room, black hog bbq,

This is not to promote you needing to do any cosmetic procedures or chasing being young or changing yourself – I do things for me – to feel better and I truly love the technology part of it. I prefer and try to look rested and the best version of me. We are never gonna beat mother nature or father time so don’t bother. I try and make friends with them and my ever-evolving self.

WHAT TO DO IN DC AREA WHEN ITS COLD

Brrrrrrrrr Happy Weekend,

I haven’t been warm in 3 weeks (maybe a day or so reprieve but nothing to write home about) so it’s been challenging even leaving the house – but a case of boredom has set in big time and now on the hunt for things to do in the DC area. I am lucky to live here because I am close to DC, MD, VA so thats a lot to do and see, but baby its cold outside. How about these ideas:

VIP MOVIE THEATERS -recliners, bar, upscale food, waiter service, comforts of homedate night, loriannmd, blank slate, urablankslate, dinner, movie, vip, dmv, weekend, winter, 2018

I’m not sure how I like this whole thing – I do enjoy the more comfy chairs but if I’m gonna eat a big meal, Mike may have some drinks big fat food but I keep thinking ……wouldn’t it be better to be in my bathrobe at home? Just saying……. (jury is still out – we are going this weekend so I’ll update you Monday).

Go Eat Somewhere out of your comfort zone – I use GROUPON to do this

It’s a way to try something new “on sale” so I don’t feel bad if pricey joint and usually bring family and/or a friend or two. Like I am really into Indian, Middle-Eastern or food from Jerusalem cuisine right now – leans towards the healthy and I adore the flavors. Locally we go to http://www.delhi6indiancuisinemd.com/ In DC we have been to RASIKA https://www.rasikarestaurant.com/ honestly Rasika is gorgeous and fun to go to DC also won a James Beard Award but the chicken curry, samosa chat, and lamb is lovely at the strip mall Delhi 6 without the wait and high prices. We also found ANANDA Restaurant http://anandarestaurant.net/ in Fulton, MD took a bit to find no outside signage – at the entrance to a nice upscale neighborhood but so worth it – the atmosphere is right up my alley, beautiful plates, service ware, and the food was great – we only went to the buffet but will be back for dinner – Next some of you know I adore all things Korean, be it the skincare, spas ( see my favorite Spa World on list below) and the food check out your local HMART like I do on the reg for some yummy helathy all veggie (pork, chicken or shrimp too) Bibimbaplori tauraso, loriannmd, urablankslate, blank slate, blogger, korean food, dinner, groupon, hmart usa, things to do, dmv, maryland, frederick md, visiit frederick md, shopping, dinner, date night, the tasting room, cheers, tauraso food group, sass magazine frederick, or BUL in DC http://www.buldc.com/ for a change these are all wonderful choices as well as tons of ethnic food in VA.

GO TO A SHOOTING RANGE = Gun Safety Courses, Fun, Educational, and Adrenaline boosting

My husband and oldest son are gun enthusiasts and its something fun and educational to do together. I have taken the HQL course, safety courses and then you rent guns (if you don’t have your own ) get targets, ear and eye protection – all the things to keep you safe and then POW blow the bad guys away. LOL just teasing – practice aim, home security, the mechanics of the weapon, what to do if someone breaks into your home ( you don’t just shoot first ) I know this topic is controversial so that being said if its not your thing – let’s just move on, please agree to disagree with respect for individual thoughts and rights #USA). We like it – I take it very seriously and want to keep myself, family and home safe. Plus I found out I am a really good shot! Not just about shooting something neat hobby. I am looking into skeet shooting or clay pigeon shooting as well. Kindda cool if your into that kind of thing.

There are GROUPON’S for this too btw – but we go to :lori tauraso, heritage shooting, frederick, md, dmv, gun safety, girlboss, blankslate, urablankslate, blank slate, trbar, visitfrederickmd, dmv, blogger, winter 2018, nra, trump,

RELAX AT A SPA I SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST = Spa World located in Centerville, VA

Spa World Korean Baths open 24 hours a day 7 days a week, gym, restaurants, spa services and just the best place on the planet. My healthy HAPPY PLACE. They almost always have a Groupon – It changed my thoughts on health beauty, body image, wellness management, opened me up to new cultures I just adore it. I cannot wait to go to South Korea one day! It’s a must if you’re in the are. Make a day of it!

You also can always go to the DC museums or hit a Mall TYSONS CORNER CENTER & GALLERIA – Do some fab window shopping. I think my car drives itself there for people watching, window shopping and decor inspiration. I hope this gives you some ideas of different things to do. I could’ve gone on for days but I think I am going to Tysons Corner than to Spa World and call it a day! Plus that should finally warm my bones!

Let me know where and what you do to mix it up in the winter.

NEW YEAR & NEW YOU 2018

Hey Gang,
Happy New Year! Fianlly it’s 2018! Below are things I either have or will be getting and wanted to share with you. I will start from top to bottom and give you my review and why I love it.
The foot soak – this is a great way to detox and deodorize your tired winter feet. I give Mike a foot soak or detox bath (a whole post on those later – so ck back) at least one time a week and for myself as well. While that is going on I will put on sheet maks and the one by SKII knocks it outta the park so does the skin-ceuticals. Great before a night out or while on long flights – I’ll be using mine on the plane ride to Montana (5 hrs +) along with the sheet masks I use the SK-II essence. It doesn’t seem like much but trust me – use it for a month and your skin will be brighter and all the better for it! I put a small amount (a tablespoon or so) in my palm splash on my face and tap tap tap it in all over for 1 – 2 minutes down your neck and decolletage as well.
Next, Armani makeup – the eyeliner is one of the best – hands down – to do a “tight line”, cat eye you cant go wrong. I have used the foundation off and on for years – never fails and has a medium coverage that won’t cause breakouts and the color matching is “perfetto”! I mentioned the Bobbi brown eye cream a few weeks ago and still love it for winter. It really absorbs doesn’t travel into your eye and perfect for tired winter stressed eyes. Also BB the travel brushes – usually not a fan of the mini travel size like “whats the point” but these babies are great quality and super for travel and downsizing what you bring. I have used her blush for so long for myself and clients – one of my favorite pinks is…… #29 Nude Pink – great for all skin tones and buildable color.
The work out gear listed below falls into the “I just want it” file. Boy, do I need to up my gym look game. Move collages on my Polyvore page – click here

The Express Jeans are so great this year – great styles of all types – have some stretch to them ( thank you) and many fits…… price pretty darn good too. Sometimes by 2 get 3rd 1/2 off! Yeah, baby!
The last three items are on the ‘WANT” list. I mean the LV agenda – right #bosslady along with the FAB D&G glasses and pale powder blue stretch knit D&G ladylike dress. I know would fit my body and style like a dream and Mike would go gaga over me in it. He like me with my hair back in blue a little sexy but very lady like – you know the old saying…… be a lady on the street and a (bleep) in the bedroom. Words to live by ladies. It has worked out well for me – LOL
Ok off to the gym and video edits – starting some new video posts on my youtube channel – going to review my COOL SCULPTING results, talk with Dr. Kathleen Moe, meet with owner Rebecca of #mavenbeautybar here in Frederick, MD so gotta plan my outlines and get my list ready for IKEA. Whoa – you cant go in there without a plan or you will be toast!
Ciao,

HAPPY NEW YEAR! IT’S BEEN BUSY COUPLE WEEKS TIME FOR FRESH STARTS

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL THAT JAZZ,

I hope you all are doing well. Are happy, healthy, safe and warm. The holiday season was a blur at times and not always that beautiful fireside snuggle time with hot cocoa next to a beautiful tree. Sometimes its hectic depressing and the more we try and fit the mold the more stressful it can become. I think most of you know if have been with me for a while that I come from a very small family – being an only child and losing my mom over 10 years ago Christmas can be bittersweet. I am very lucky to have healthy happy children and some family but the icing on my cake this year is the great lovely friends I am lucky enough to have in my life. Who at times are more like family and very close to me….. Family can be trying to say the least – What is that saying ” You can pick your friends, you can’t pick your relatives! So “thank you”, dear friends, all my hugs, and kisses I could not do it without you. Thankful to share our ups and downs and be cheerleaders, sounding boards, shoulders, and a place to just laugh and “BE”. I couldn’t have gotten through this season without you! Enough said. Those who get it – get it!

Now moving on let’s talk about some of my favorite things I am loving and are a great way to start 2018. Did I mention I am so happy to be in 2018 – “see ya 2017 – blaaaahhhhhh“.

This time of year I think we all naturally become reflective, set goals, make plans, thinks about the good the bad and the ugly. Sometimes we need to make changes or adjustments to keep growing in this beautiful life we are given. I am no different! I like to get a couple journals in January and this year I bought 3 black plain journals (3 for $10 at Costco) one will be for personal goals and reflections, the next for health and food and the third I will keep as my daily grab and go which ends up holding, inspirational quotes, magazine tear-outs, grocery lists coupons, lighting bolt moments etc a sort of catch-all if you will.JOURNALS, NEW YEAR, shopping, loriannmd, frederick md, Nouvelle, candle, home decor, makup, tom ford, spring 2018, fashion, loriannmd, lori tauraso, urablankslate, frederick md, dmv, neiman marcus, saks fith avenue, nyc, new year, fresh starts, begining, summer, laura mercier, garnier, skin peel,

Next, is a new facial peel I am just gaga over. I adore Korean beauty I have for years since I first stumbled upon SPA WORLD in Centerville, VA, and my HMART has a beauty section! They have these fantastic gel peels. Only $10 -$15! ( whaaat ) you put on dry or damp skin let sit for a minute and then rub – your skin will pill up and slough off. You rinse with warm water and washcloth. YOUR WELCOME – cuz you will be like where have you been my whole life. Your skin will be soft as a baby’s bottom and ready for all your great serums lotions etc. Your makeup will glide on as well. I like to do them 2 -3 times a week. Try it on your had first – I swear it is the bomb! Order online if you don’t have an Asian market or Korean spa near you.korean skincare, peels, face, Nouvelle, candle, home decor, makup, tom ford, spring 2018, fashion, loriannmd, lori tauraso, urablankslate, frederick md, dmv, neiman marcus, saks fith avenue, nyc, new year, fresh starts, begining, summer, laura mercier, farnier, skin peel,

I love candles and found the Nouvelle Candle Co. They have 2 sizes. I chose the smaller version to sample a new scent. “Sea Salted Lemons”. It is so fresh and clean – perfect for the new year and cleaning out refreshing the house. I buy my locally at Creme de la Creme located on North Market St. Frederick, MD

This store is simply one of my favorites – it’s not cheap but you get quality housewares that not everyone else will have. Leaning a bit towards french flair! Magnifique! Make sure to stop by the downtown Frederick, MD store or the first location in the beautiful town of Middleburg, VA (horse country).

Now is drugstore product I think is super and have bought over and over again. I love Garnier I have used their BB cream for years great for no makeup days with tint moisture and SPF but this night time peel is simply one of the best. I keep it ion my nightstand and 3-4 times week apply after my bath and my Clinique 3step. All over my face, neck, and decolletage. It’s not drying, non-irritating to me and sloughs off dead clogged skin to reveal fresh smooth face neck in the morning. Great price and always have it with me. makup, tom ford, spring 2018, fashion, loriannmd, lori tauraso, urablankslate, frederick md, dmv, neiman marcus, saks fith avenue, nyc, new year, fresh starts, begining, summer, laura mercier, garnier, skin peel,

Now some new makeup – we have been traveling more and more these days and I’m always looking for ways to downsize how many products I bring with me. This one is killer! Laura Mercier – one of my all-time favorites she just put out a holiday eyeshadow kit ( Mine is sold out but here is an even better one – Master Class Essentials ) one side matte the other a little shimmer. You can your eyeliner brush ( dampened a little ) and the matte colors at your lash line make fantastic liner or “tightline” if going more subtle. Than coordinating shades with a hint of shimmer. The colors are perfect neutrals and deep navy – all you would need for a week-long vacation. It is called the MASTER CLASS COLOUR ESSENTIALS COLLECTION This is coming in my makeup bag for sure and saving tons of space! makup, tom ford, spring 2018, fashion, loriannmd, lori tauraso, urablankslate, frederick md, dmv, neiman marcus, saks fith avenue, nyc, new year, fresh starts, begining, summer, laura mercier,

Finally one of my favorite luxury makeup brands…………. TOM FORD BEAUTY I treated my self to 2 lipsticks and lip liner/gloss combo – nude pinky shades which he featured on the SS 2018 Runway – colors from L – R FLYNN 17 – LIP CONTOUR DUO “09 – AW16” AND LIP COLOR MATTE IN “HEAVENLY CREATURE” makup, tom ford, spring 2018, fashion, loriannmd, lori tauraso, urablankslate, frederick md, dmv, neiman marcus, saks fith avenue, nyc, new year, fresh starts, begining, summer,Ck out these outfits from the show – SS2018 TOM FORD
