Planning Our First Ski Trip of 2019 Season New Clothes & Lake Tahoe????

Hi Gang Happy Columbas Day!

So the official start of fall is here  – we survived the summer and I can’t wait for the cooler weather!  This has me planning our first ski trip of the 2019 Season and of course, looking for new ski clothes.  Mike and I usually take the kids (any and all of our who can come) on a family ski trip been going the past 6 years now I think.  This year Mike promised me (the beginner skier of the group) that we’d go more often and a few times just he and I.  So I am searching where to go for a few days.  We have been to Montana a couple of times, Park City 2 times, Colorado a couple now I am thinking Lake Tahoe or Jackson Hole????

I am open to suggestions from you all.  I really enjoyed Park City for a few reasons…….the cute town itself, the direct flight from DC (key), the great lessons I took there, the ski in ski out condo.  The shopping and food were great and pretty close to the airport too.

A few other items on my list ….. cuz I love Rakuten and 12%cash back days (not always 12 % but when it is….. #womenbeshopping)!

obviously these things are pricey and a WISHLIST but I will get some with my Saks card earn points and when Rakuten formerly EBATES is over 10% cashback is how i do it – so if you plan you can find good deals and get some great classic designer pieces.
Ciao for the day – going outside to play with Abe do chores and enjoy this perfect day!  I hope you do as well.

BRINGING YOU UP TO SPEED WHAT A BUSY SUMMER

Hi Gang,

Boy summer is flying by cant believe July is almost over!  Things have been a whirlwind here for me at Blank Slate so I thought I’d do a little recap to keep you in the loop and share what’s going on and what’s to come.

The Farm update – we named it “DRY RUN RANCH”  there is a creek on the farm called dry run but someone has Dry Run Farm Honey Co. nearby so we just went with Ranch.  Why not right?  Mike likes it and that makes me happy.  All the outbuildings have been taken down and grading has begun.  The main house will come down when construction begins – sometimes at years end, I believe.  Here are some before and as we cleared and beautified the property.

Just Chillin in The General

Abe loving the farm so much!

This is the last of the buildings that were taken down – we saved the bank barn and the dairy building the rest were in such ill repair that they could not be saved – boards and timbers and doors were set aside when possible for later use.  We are working with Bill Ellison of Caddworks here in Frederick, MD he is a good friend, easy to work with surrounded by a great team and this will be the 4th or 5th project we have worked with him.  It is really important to me to have someone I can be myself with, share my thoughts and “gets me”.

Next, on the list is the newest Black Hog BBQ located in Middletown, MD.  Construction, the landlord and a bunch of things out of our control pushed this back 6 months but we are rolling now and its gonna be FANTASTIC.  You can follow along on Instagram for the hog HERE.  I introduced yellow to the color scheme and even custom designed a paint with our mustard sauce at our local Sherwin Willams store.  When you come in you will see it and bright yellow mustard sauce color sprinkled around the new hog.  The dark mustard paint will go down the back hall and bright mustard on the booths and bar stools.  So excited and don’t forget to look up.  I created a cool sign on the ceiling.  Just love this.  Then I will go back to the other locations and spruce them up this year esp. Urbana needs some loving too and I will bring some of the new colors schemes there.  It’s a fine line between updating and looking to modernize without getting away from our brand.  BHB Middletown plans – you see Imm old school I like to color things in and below that farm plans and color scheme thoughts as well.

Site plans, paint ideas from Farrow and Ball working on vision board too

My PR business is growing and I have had the opportunity to work with some great people in DC.  Most recently Ferro Salon DC  I am building their brand, taking photos, helping with social media and it is tons of fun!  They are so great and some of the best colorists I’ve ever met.  Cutting Edge – no pun intended – LOL The foilayage technique, hair painting, balayage, baby lights, precision cuts they have it all!  Along with a full-service salon. Mike and I were trying to get out of town for a bit before Middletown Black Hog but it doesn’t look like its gonna happen……. oh well maybe the end of Septemeber NYC or Pheonix AZ.  I think I have enough to keep me busy.  Definitely gonna hit Richmond to see JOJO and his new place with his girlfriend Oliva and stay at my favorite hotel there QUIRK HOTEL RICHMOND, VA.   Two words… Pink Lobby!  Quirk hotel, RVA, lori tauraso, urablankslate, blank slate, summer, destination hotels, dmv, the dc bloggers, maryland blogger, the tasting room, tauraso food group, shopping, summer 2019, decor, boutique hotels,

There are pros and cons to the fact that there are so many ways to reimagine a kitchen or bathroom. On the one hand, it’s somewhat reassuring that you can give

new life to the spaces through small or subtle changes; on the other, there are seemingly endless choices for practically every element. To help those who might be considering an update narrow down the options, we asked four experts from across the country to discuss the current and rising trends in kitchen and bath spaces. From statement-making hardware to fresh takes on traditional tile, here’s what’s popular right now.

A departure from all-white. While the all-white kitchen is a classic, it’s ceding ground to more colorful iterations. “We’ve seen the color come back in paint and upholstery, and now it’s making the natural evolution to the kitchen and bath,” Katie Battaglia, design director at Nemo Tile in Red Bank, New Jersey, reports. “We’re even seeing bright pops of color in tile, either as an accent or as an entire backsplash. And these colors can really lend a soothing spa or Mediterranean feel to a bathroom.” Meanwhile, Rebecca Farris of Bottega Design Gallery in Fort Worth, Texas, reports that many of her clients are opting for blush pink tile in both the kitchen and bath. She’s also seeing an infusion of tone on tone color in geometric patterns.

A jump in jewel tones. While these hues may have been on the rise last year, they’re now mainstream. Katie Battaglia of Nemo Tile reports that deep greens and blues, as well as warmer tones of these shades, are appearing in tile and paint. Rebecca Farris at Bottega Design Galleryadds that even when sticking with a classic grey or white kitchen, rich blues and greens are serving as colorful accents, while Ginny Padula, owner, and designer at Town & Country Kitchen and Bath in Red Bank, New Jersey, adds that hunter green is hugely popular for kitchen cabinetry right now. “It adds that interesting contrast when you want something rich and dark, but not quite as dramatic as black.”

Mixing in matte black hardware. Those who gravitate toward hardware that’s a bit on the darker side are in luck. According to Jonathan Pilley, owner of Push Pull Hardware in Bethesda, Maryland, the recent influx of matte black is a game-changer. “With matte black as a finish, projects can incorporate hardware that is an absolute black, which plays well with just about any combination of cabinets, counters, and backsplashes,” he shares. “It’s chic and slick in its presentation, and works in modern and traditional spaces, but it’s also extremely practical, as it won’t show fingerprints, dirt, and water spots.”

Large-scale pattern in the powder room. Wallpaper continues to be a popular choice among people who wish to add a little drama or whimsy—particularly in private spaces. Ginny Padula of Town & Country Kitchen and Bath especially appreciates the powerful effect wallpaper can have in the powder room. “The large-scale wallpaper patterns really make a statement and leave a lasting impression.”

An evolution of subway tile. Subway tile has long been a go-to, but Katie Battaglia of Nemo Tile observes that lately, people are putting a twist on the timeless standby. “There’s still a desire to have that classic look, but now we’re seeing tiles with texture—wavy versus smooth—and a longer length,” she says. “There are also so many things you can do with the installation and shape. The herringbone pattern is one of the most popular right now.”

Knurling enters every day. Knurling, the process of impressing a pattern onto a surface to provide a better grip, is being embraced for aesthetic reasons. “Finding hardware with unique features can be a challenge at times, which is why knurled hardware is a great design style,” Jonathan Pilley of Push-Pull Hardware reports. “Many faucets incorporate knurling into their handles to bring in a more industrial look, and complementing cabinet hardware with some form of knurling continues that look throughout the kitchen.” The detailed patterns add interest to a room by bringing in another texture, and depending on the finish of the hardware, the visual impact of the knurling can be enhanced or downplayed, says Pilley.

Natural elements enter the kitchen. According to Ginny Padula of Town & Country Kitchen and Bath, natural elements like wood, both reclaimed and new, are working their way into kitchens. “The use of wood fosters a warm and welcoming feel,” she says of the material that’s increasingly being used in island countertops, island backs, and in support and decorative ceiling beams. “Its infusion into the kitchen creates a lighter, airier space.”

An introduction of interesting forms and fillers. Joining traditional shapes in tile, like the hexagon, are additional forms that create a sense of interest and movement. “The fish scale, or fan look, is becoming really popular,” Katie Battaglia of Nemo Tile notes. “And arabesque, also known as lantern or teardrop, is being embraced not only because it’s different, but the fanciful shape is also more delicate.” Another fresh take on tile is the introduction of interesting grout, says Rebecca Farris of Bottega Design Gallery. “I have one client who is bringing back the classic 4×4 tile, but with neon pink grout,” she says. “Darker grout is, of course, easier to keep clean, but warmer greys can also bring in that subtle difference that makes the kitchen or bath feel fresh and modern.”

EMSCULPT MY REAL REVIEW WITH DR. SARAH MESS – JUST IN TIME FOR SPRING

Hello Beautiful People,

This is NOT an AD.  Just another real review by yours truly.  If you have been around with me for a while you know I am always trying the latest and greatest and letting you know my unbiased thoughts  Yay or Nay.  This is no exception.  After turning 49 in November of 2018.  I began to look into how I can improve my looks ( body being the focus right now) without getting too crazy.  Yes, I like a little botox, maybe lips now and again fat burning IE:  Coolsculpting ( which I got fantastic results btw) but I was lacking muscle.  I walk daily and try to do squats do a little lightweights (not on the regular thou) but wasn’t seeing the results I wanted.  I’m also a KUWTK fan and wanted to build my booty.  Yet I didn’t want to go under the knife or inject anything in there ya know.  Something makes me nervous at this point.  Who knows maybe that will change but for now I want to stick to non-surgical little helpers.  If you are like me ( when I’m good )  you’ve logged countless hours in the gym seeking six-pack abs, do your lunges, leg curls, you eat right, take your supplements only to be told “You are just getting older, this happens, you look fine, your body is changing, your not in your 20’s anymore).  I was told this by a few local doctors and I SAID NOWAY!  A few other supperlitives when I was in the car…….emsculpt, dr sarah mess, burn fat, lori tauraso, blank slate, urablankslate, blankslate, dmv blogger, dmv beauty, modern luxury magazine, tsg baltimore and annapolis, columbia md, non invasive, anti aging, younger, lose fat, 40 something, women, youthful, beauty in maryland, maryland bloggers,

emsculpt, dr sarah mess, burn fat, lori tauraso, blank slate, urablankslate, blankslate, dmv blogger, dmv beauty, modern luxury magazine, tsg baltimore and annapolis, columbia md, non invasive, anti aging, younger, lose fat, 40 something, women, youthful, beauty in maryland, maryland bloggers,

So I began my research and found the lovely Dr. Sarah Mess.  (pictured above) She is a cutting edge doctor with her own surgical center at the top of her field and lucky for me local!  Cue the angels singing……..  So what if I told you I found there was a way for you to see real results?  Really. real results and it is  NON- INVASIVE.  Ready for it it’s the new “Emsculpt“.  I’m sure you have heard about.  Kathy Lee even talked about it a few months ago on the today show and Kathy Lee and Hoda show.  It means you can actually sculpt your abs/glutes/quads/arms by building muscle and losing fat cells.  ( its also ever evolving to add more areas like tops of thighs and more areas as well).

Technical Stuff:  This FDA-approved procedure uses high intensity focused electromagnetic energy, or HIFEM, and is the only device on the market that tones muscles while reducing fat in the abdominal area and building in the glute area.  You see is customizable for your body.  Build muscle while getting rid of fat or just building muscle (which in my case was great – build glutes – reduce fat and build muscle in the tummy area).  For the best results, Emsculpt treatments are done 4-5 times within two weeks.  As muscle fibers are contracted, Emsculpt provides a deep and thorough workout to create stronger, healthier core muscles. You can also use Emsculpt to boost your booty, too. (However, actual fat reduction only occurs in the abdomen, not the buttocks.) The contractions performed by Emsculpt in just ½ hour are comparable to 20,000 abdominal sit-ups or 20,000 booty lunges – an impossible feat even for a diehard gym rat! Even better, you’ll skip the usual soreness of a grinding workout because there is no pain during or after the procedure.  As shown in clinical trials, patients who received the procedure saw about a 20 percent reduction in fat in the abdomen and a 16 percent increase in muscle mass. On average, Emsculpt can trim 1 to 2 inches from your waist with absolutely no side effects – all within the time it takes for your daily lunch break. A typical treatment takes about 30 minutes for abs and another 30 for the entire buttock area and occurs twice a week for the first two weeks. After that, any follow-up treatments can be done once a month to maintain your amazing results.  Check this link to Dr. Blog and see even more information.  CLICK HERE

If I could compare the level of “pain” you feel after the procedure, I would say you will feel the same amount of muscle soreness like you would after an intense workout. Seriously, I swear!  It’s amazing that such an effective treatment doesn’t cause any side effects.  Here I am at 100% and you can see easy as pie!

Other treatments such as CoolSculpting (which I have done and have the first-hand experience to speak on it) tend to cause a numbing sensation that lasts even after the treatment is completed. Also, redness in the treated area is quite common.  It is a great procedure which Dr. Mess does as well in her office could be super combo pack if you’re like me want to loos fat first then lose more and build muscle on those stubborn areas.  Emsculpt won’t leave any bruises, numbing sensations or redness. In fact, you’ll even be able to wear a bikini immediately after the treatment!

We all know how difficult it is to shape our buttocks. Sometimes no matter how many squats we do, our rear end just won’t take on the perfect shape. Luckily, EMsculpt is the #1 butt-shaper of all time!  It does not happen overnight so do not lose faith – You will start to see results in about 3-4 weeks they say full result in about 4 months.

Below is me on Instastories (Beauty) after about 1 2/2 -3wks Seeing good things.

I was asked to model the Emsculpt during Dr. Mess’s open house of her new surgery center office ( took one for the team – I figured no one will know me right – LOL )

So I did the procedure on abs and glutes and LOVE it.  I did the initially suggested protocol rounds and am really happy.  I think I will do another round of glutes soon only because I am so happy butt ( see what I did there?)  I want more lift and since its the largest muscle group in my body had been pretty atrophied I want more before spring.

Here is my picture at the time of post this morning unretouched etc……  look I have nice little cheeks again! One of the other benefits of this kind of procedure is the cumulative positive after effects.  When you slowly start to see subtle results you want to do more.  Meaning you want to start increasing workouts, eating healthy all those good things increase and can only add to your results.  All these opinions are mine and I am not a doctor call and see if this is a good fit for you.  Remember to love yourself first and if doing some changes whether it be surgical, fillers or non-invasive, new hair color, clothes, going back to school – than dang gone it – DO IT!  You really do have to make yourself happy first!emsculpt, dr sarah mess, burn fat, lori tauraso, blank slate, urablankslate, blankslate, dmv blogger, dmv beauty, modern luxury magazine, tsg baltimore and annapolis, columbia md, non invasive, anti aging, younger, lose fat, 40 something, women, youthful, beauty in maryland, maryland bloggers,

JANUARY LIFE UPDATE & LINKS I LOVE

GOOD MORNING LADIES,

I wanted to give a little life update on things around here at Blank Slate.  Also sharing with you some links I love.  We are out of the gate fast this and year doesn’t look like its slowing down.  I am really excited to be BACK IN SCHOOL for my second semester at FCC working on Photography, Film and Video production.  It’s HARRRRRRD but so worth it and I love it.  I am working on some short videos and food photography for our restaurants The Tasting Room & Black Hog BBQ’s.  I also want to do a video diary of the building of our 4th Hog in Middletown, Maryland. You can see my nerdy self on my instagram stories etc.  I’ve been loving instagram these days and giving quick life updates so much fun and thank you to all who comment and follow.  Be on the look out for some youtube content for my channel and for the restaurants.  I am also starting some renovations here at the house beginning with my master en suite.  Let’s say soaking tub, subway tiles, marble, self care….. yes!  I can’t wait and Im taking you along with me.

Speaking of restaurants I created a #GALENTINES event for The Tasting Room February 13th All Day Long!  It comes from a Parks and Rec episode years ago and has become a thing.  We are giving away Gift Cards, Wine Flights (over 21 of course) collaborating with several local great businesses like http://www.arthairco.com   http://www.jkwbeauty.com  http://www.shopthemuse.com   http://www.inarisalon.com  http://www.transformedmedspamd.com just to name a few to make this the best first annual GALENTINES DAY EVER!  #NOTICKETREQUIRED!  So with that being said I enlisted some fantastic lovely ladies/friends for a promo photo shoot at TR this past Sunday.  I have to say was a great success and I am so grateful to all who helped me.  The pictures turned out great and I’ll have some behind the scenes footage up on youtube shortly.  My channel yes I have one – will be getting tons better so subscribe and watch it all unfold and if nothing else have a good laugh.  BLANK SLATE YOUTUBE
