A few months ago we traveled to the windy city for the National Restaurant Show since we are opening our 4th Black Hog BBQ and lucky us it’s in Chicago. I had only been one time before but fell in love then and couldn’t wait to go back. As you know I love Marriott properties and since they own almost all of the hotels I love – my rewards go far. *** Best credit card other than Amex we have ever had – you really get to use your points. This is just my unpaid opinion but can’t say enough. Here is a list of hotels they own and you can use your points at: MARRIOTT OWNS WHAT? This time I choose THE BLACKSTONE HOTEL it is part of the Autograph collection with Marriott #NOTAD. I wish it was – hint…Marriott. The Blackstone is a lovely centrally located hotel in the heart of Chicago and a short taxi the anything you may want. There are rumors or ghosts at the hotel (thank goodness we didn’t run into one) a long history of the building which you can view here:BLACKSTONE HISTORY It has a lovely breakfast and meeting room which the decor and service blew me away (not your courtyard breakfast) They have a topnotch restaurant (MERCAT), gym, lobby bar with live music certain times of the week and a little market to grab some snacks and necessities if needed. BTW The lobby and hallways and rooms were an Instagrammers dream. We attend the overwhelming huge restaurant show, ate at RPM Italian, Amy at her first Hot Dog at Portillo’s and I even convinced the boys to do a juice shot with me to try and counteract all the gluttony. Below are some pictures of the trip I hope you enjoy and when in Chicago check out The Blackstone Hotel. We will be back!
**This post is late due to my camera and SD cards being stolen and trying to piece together what I had on my icloud.
Amy and I ready to hit the town and I hope to see Bill Rancic at RPM ITALIAN CHICAGO (Giuliana too – lol ). Kill me big “fan” of Mr. Rancic……
A great little desk setup for getting some work done, plotting our course at the Restaurant Show and some sightseeing.
Artwork abounds throughout the hotel each floor on the hotel elevator lobby has someone new to greet you – this fella followed me everywhere.
Again the little touches in the master bathroom were fantastic and YES I had to wait but I got my bathtub in the room see above. Thank you, Marriott, for remembering my wishes on our profile.
The front view of the lobby and bar area.
Below the communal breakfast spot – looks like a swanky apt or upscale restaurant.
Our cool & comfy room.
Landmarks all over the place here in Chicago
So much to see and do – I highly suggest the architecture boat tour of the city – interesting – clean – fun and a truly fantastic view of the city the hotel front desk staff can advise and book anything for you.
You gotta go to the BEAN and take a selfie or photo etc its walking distance from THE BLACKSTONE HOTEL …… try not to act like a kid when staring at yourself I dare you.
A few restaurant show highlights
Now for the fantastic shopping – yes I had to treat myself just a wee bit – the service in these stores was simply fantastic! I wish some of these great salespeople would head to the DMV like yesterday. I stopped in The Banana Republic – got a tuxedo pant – pink blazer and cami, got some great Tom Ford makeup at Saks and found my dream fancy grandma loafer at Stewart Weitzman and popped into one of the best Tiffany & Co. jewelry stores in the world with this fantastic dream shed one of only 4 in the world I believe – don’t quote me.
Then we went to RPM Italian – I kept asking for Bill Rancic ( and Guilliana – LOL ) but I guess we had to settle for one of the stars from CHICAGO FIRE! YES, ladies, he does look that good in person and was gracious enough to stop by our table after we walked by his and I mentioned Amy was a huge fan.
Again, back to the Blackstone Hotel – The Lobby Bar “Timothy’s Hutch” was just so cute and our bartender was fantastic – can’t remember her name but born and raised in Chicago from a large strong family – what a doll made some fantastic craft cocktails and charmed the pants off of us! The Mercat restaurant was just up the stairs off of the lobby – the only complaint of mine I wish they had better earlier hours……. everyhting duing the day was clossed – however service and food were TOL (top of the line) so made up for it.
We are heading to the airport and home but not without hitting the famous Portillo’s hot dog joint ( wish we had seen the original but this was great none the less) and better yet Amy’s first hot dog! Yes I know crazy we think some kind of story there but she loved it!
Trying to get some healthy in somewhere……
Here’s to you Chicago until next time – hoping Spring of 2019. Cheers!
