I think I see Spring in the not too distant future only 3 weeks away.
So, that means our custom new home build on the farm is moving along. It really was a blessing that some things took longer and we shifted gears and became our own General Contractors because I have really honed in on how I want the house to look and feel. Today I am sharing a little of what I am choosing for the house the colors, tiles, cabinets, pantry, and master en suite color scheme and I think is really trending across the board. It’s the classic no-trend home trend of 2021. I call my style EUROPEAN COUNTRY. Which to me means it has good solid bones not too splashy and not what everyone else is doing. With that being said a few of the moment things will definitely be in my design decor. Esp. the part about being close to the land and nature.
White oak, I was inspired by the white French oak from Pinterest or what I see in books in historic European homes. It is rustic and gives an old-world charm to a home without weighing it down.
Paint – we are finally moving away from gray. Thank goodness. I have loved you Dorain Gray by SW but time to move on. I’m not saying it will be cream or beige but think more alabaster, chalk bone color. I prefer to give the whole main living spaces / common area the same paint color so it needs to play well with others. However, I will be breaking up sometimes with wallpaper and designating the areas with lighting and furniture, rugs, and the like. My chosen color is…….. Marshmellow by Sherwin Williams. It is a chalky white with the slightest I mean the slightest dab of pink. It is a flattering color I will be painting everything that color the walls, baseboards trim, and ceiling. All a wash of color. It gives a very clean flowy look and even a bit modern in a soft way. The color envelopes you. I will be using a flat color. Even the trim base will be flat/ matte. It’s so chic and streamlined.
Try it out and you will see for yourself why I fell in love – wait till you see how well it pairs with my tiles for the master bath and the wallpaper as well as custom furniture I’m getting for the master bedroom. Que the angles. You just have to wait until all my sample swatches come in…. but it’s worth it. Btw guys always ck my insta and my insta stories for updates I post there all the time. @LORIANNMD HERE
Tiles – Oh Yes. I’m loving all the new tiles eps. handmade-looking tiles, matte paint, matte tiles, matte hardware sprinkled throughout. Calming colors. Again for the main areas I am going with rustic matte white but just wait for the butler’s pantry you guys….. anyway here is the master bathroom wall – will be set “solider course or in vertical pattern floor to ceiling.
I am getting two samples of the matte white one is a zellige tile and another is a Moroccan terracotta tile – ugggg love…….. they cannot come soon enough. I am working with CLE TILE and Cemento Collection Below is the Green tile that will be in the pantry. I am also doing base cabinets to match in SW Arugala it is insanely stunning dark and of nature and then will top it off with some walnut countertops and a Schumacher wallpaper from Patricks Street interiors ask for Lydia in that tiny space to make a jewel box of sorts.
People sometimes hesitate to do a bold color or print in a small space but it is THE BEST! I will have a french door so the green will always pop through a little bit but will not dictate my home color scheme. I won’t tire of it during seasonal changes because she’ll be off to the side just glowing and just doing her pretty little thing. Oh yeah, open shelves, baskets, gold hardware, and a mini white farm sink below a window!!!!!!!!! I actually have to give credit to House and Home build your dream in Colorado the kitchen pantry for the push to go with my thoughts for BOLD in this space. Watch It Here… BTW the powder room will be black and white with a concrete sink (custom made but one of our neighbors Steve Eyler like this one pictured here for inspiration but the faucet will be mounted on the sink, not the wall.
Finally, a sneak peek of the master suite, bedroom, bath, and my dressing room/closet… wallpaper, substantial trim, neutral natural colors, tones, calming, and very “timeless” type of feel. That really is the best trend of 2021 – the classic no-trend design.
